China Education and Research Network (CERNET)

China Education and Research Network (CERNET) was built in 1994. It was originally supported and constructed by Chinese government; and the Ministry of Education is responsible for its overall management. Tsinghua University and other top universities are responsible for the construction and operation of the national backbone. CERNET has since developed into the largest national academic Internet in the world. It has been an integral part of education informatization and the national informatization infrastructure. Now, more than 2000 universities in China have been connected into CERNET.
