The 8th International Conference on Future Internet Technologies

From June 5 to 7, 2013, the 8th International Conference on Future Internet Technology(CFI2013, http://www.cfi2013.edu.cn)was hosted by ACM SIGCOMM and Tsinghua National Laboratory for Information Science and Technology, and hosted by CERNET network center, was held in Wenjin Hotel. Nearly 150 experts and students from Europe, America and Asia attended the meeting. 

The conference received 48 contributions, including 37 from China, 5 from South Korea, 4 from the United States, 1 from Japan and 1 from Britain. The conference finally included 19 papers, which was included in ACM SIGCOMM digital library.

K.K. Ramakrishnan, a network technology expert of AT & T Research Laboratory in the United States, Craig Partridge, the chief scientist of BBN Technologies in charge of the implementation of CENI project in the United States, and Ken Calvert, the director of the computer department of Kentucky University in the United States, gave academic speeches respectively. Experts from major future network projects at home and abroad, such as NDN and "MobilityFirst" projects of future Internet architecture in the United States, future network related projects of the seventh framework of the European Union, and "future network architecture and innovation environment" of the national "863 Plan" project, were also invited to introduce the research progress of the project.

 The authors of 19 academic papers employed in the conference also gave lectures. Experts and students at the meeting exchanged views on the latest international frontier developments and updates in the field of future Internet. They also had a heated discussion with special speakers on the similarities and differences between future Internet research and traditional Internet research in terms of research characteristics and research methods. 

This conference brought updated information for the research of Tsinghua University and CERNET in the field of Internet, enhanced the exchanges between CERNET and foreign scholars, and promoted further collaboration.
