"Fully Escort Online Teaching, CERNET Network Support Has Been Taken into the State of War!" Jianping Wu, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of CERNET Network Center, emphasized this at the "Virtual Conference of CERENT Network Support for COVID-19 Prevention and Control".
In order to further implement the general requirement of the Ministry of Education that "Students learn from home, teachers teach from home", CERNET Network Center issued an emergency notice on February 15, and held a virtual conference to deploy and implement CERNET network support for COVID-19 prevention and control. Over 100 participants from CERNET Expert Committee, directors of core nodes and technical operation directors from 41 universities in China attended the conference.
The conference mobilized the guarantee work of online teaching in colleges and universities in China.
The conference stressed that all staff of CERNET / CERNET2 core node network center fully understood the importance, uniqueness and complexity of CERNET network support work during the period of COVID-19 prevention and control. Carry forward the spirit of "sticking to the post, ensuring the smooth flow and making positive contributions" of CERNET in the "fight against SARS" in 2003, and resolutely win the fight of COVID-19 prevention and control.
In particular, the meeting also heard the introduction of the director of the Wuhan core node from Huazhong University of Science and Technology as to how Wuhan overcame its difficulties, adhered to its post responsibilities and ensured the operation of the network in the severe epidemic situation.
As early as February 6, in response to the Ministry of Education's notice, CERNET Network Center issued "A Letter to CERNET Users". As of February 12, 153 units had upgraded their bandwidth to 65.6G for free. CERNET core node network centers and CERNET.COM also strengthened communications with their users through various effective ways to understand users' demands and ensure service qualities.
